Chronic disease is now the world's leading cause of death, and most of it is caught late: at the emergency room, the dialysis chair, the intensive care bed. That is the most expensive moment to meet a patient, for the patient, the clinic and the insurer.
of the world's death and disability now comes from chronic, noncommunicable disease. Global Burden of Disease, 2023.
people died from chronic disease across Africa in 2023. More than half of those deaths are linked to risk factors that can be changed.
of Africa's chronic-disease deaths are linked to high blood pressure, the single largest risk factor, and one whose trend the JiVa Band tracks around the clock.

In Kenya, the national payer spends 389 times more to dialyse one kidney patient for a year than it spends looking for the hypertension that put them there. Cancer, heart and kidney disease make up 13.8% of claims but 44.9% of the cost. The pattern repeats in health systems everywhere.

Diagnosed after the damage is done, facing catastrophic bills, lost income and years of treatment that earlier care would have avoided.
Clinics see a patient at a short visit, then lose sight of them until the next crisis. There is no signal between visits.
Claims arrive as expensive, unpredictable emergencies. Medical loss ratios climb, and the preventive benefits meant to stop them go unused.
Put continuous, clinically read monitoring on every person living with chronic disease, through the clinics and insurers that already care for them.
One million members across Africa by 2031, and the continent's first longitudinal health record built underneath them. Proactive health, clinical precision, financial freedom.
Why now
ECG, oxygen and heart-rhythm sensing that once lived in hospitals now fits in a 25 gram band.
A phone in every pocket, and SMS for those without one, carries readings to a care team in seconds.
Rising chronic claims make prevention the fastest route to healthier loss ratios.
The platform
Screenless, swim-proof and light enough to forget. It measures what matters, every minute of every day, and sends it to people who know what to do with it.
A woven strap, an alloy frame and nothing to charge every night. Wear it to work, to sleep and into the pool.
The engraved metal plate is an ECG electrode running on a Texas Instruments sensor chip. Touch it for a heart-rhythm reading, while contact sensors track skin temperature all day.
An optical sensor tuned for every skin tone measures heart rate, heart-rate variability, blood oxygen, stress and blood-pressure trends, day and night, with no buttons to press.
Up to 10 days of continuous monitoring and up to 60 days of everyday use on a single charge. It snaps onto a magnetic charger and buzzes when something needs your attention.
Readings stream to your app and to a nurse-led monitoring desk. A sustained change triggers a call, a check at a Mobile Health Unit, and a clinic visit if it is needed. The band monitors; your clinician diagnoses.
A Nordic Bluetooth processor, a Bosch 6-axis motion sensor and a Texas Instruments ECG chip, sealed in an alloy frame.
Up to 10 days of continuous monitoring.
Water resistant to 50 metres.
40 × 29.5 × 11.5 mm.
Soft, breathable woven nylon.

Every JiVa Band carries the JIVA mark on its ECG plate. Pick the strap that suits you when you join.

In the pipeline
A fourteen-year-old tennis player in Nairobi has the talent. What she rarely has is a nutritionist, a strength coach and a sports clinician watching her training load. JiVa Premium brings that team to her, through freelance professionals and her band.

For chronic patients, the clinic comes to the wrist and the Mobile Health Unit comes to the neighbourhood.
For athletes and everyone chasing better health, elite coaching stops depending on where you were born.
